    Der Doctor entdeckt eine außerirdische Kriegsmaschine namens Skovox Blitzer, die sich irgendwo im Osten Londons versteckt. Daher lässt er sich als Hausmeister in der Coal Hill Schule anstellen um die Sache näher zu Untersuchen.
    Die Maskerade zieht ihn tiefer in Claras Privatleben hinein, als ihr lieb ist und er entwickelt eine eisige Beziehung zu dem ahnungslosen Danny Pink. Die Angelegenheit eskaliert als Danny ausversehen den Plan des Doctors stört, die Bedrohung abzuwenden.
    Daher sieht Clara keine andere Möglichkeit mehr, als Danny gegenüber die Wahrheit über ihre Abenteurer in der TARDIS zu enthüllen, während die Zeit davon läuft und der Skovox Blitz die Erde zerstört
