Und ist ehrlich gesagt auch sehr viel besser und unterhaltsamer gemacht als die deutsche Version. Und die Celebrities sind in der Regel auch tatsächlich bekannt in UK. So etwas wie eine Schickimicki-Tante aus Monaco, die etliche Schönheits-OPs hinter sich hat und ein wenig Ruhm durch RTL Exclusiv und ein paar Reality-Formaten erlangt hat, findet man dort vergeblich.

Mittlerweile sind auch die offiziellen BBC iPlayer Abrufe für den Monat Oktober veröffentlicht worden. Die erste Doctor Who Episode ist sehr populär gewesen. Die restlichen Episoden tauchen jedoch nicht auf.

Es soll keine Entschuldigung sein, nur war unter diesem Aspekt schon vorher klar, dass es einige Personen geben wird, die darüber nicht hinwegkommen würden, egal wie gut geschrieben manche Folgen auch sein können. Ein Shitstorm mit Ankündigung und das muss jetzt erstmal überstanden werden.

Zudem wünsche ich mir, falls Whittaker tatsächlich nach dieser Staffel gehen sollte ( was ich sehr bedauerlich finden würde ), als nächste Inkarnation des Doctors wieder eine weibliche Figur, da man erstens so sich vermehrt an den Gedanken eines weiblichen Doctors gewöhnen kann ( und nicht gleich wieder ein Wechsel zu einem Mann erfolgt ) und eventuelle inszenatorische Schwächen dieser Staffel ausgebügelt werden können.

Ich glaube es ist weniger der "weibliche Doctor" per se. Auch wenn ich die Idee nicht gut fand, so hätten mich gute Stories und Charaktere, sowie ein gutes Schauspiel von ihr sicherlich umgestimmt.

Mir fällt auch auf, obwohl das Doctor Who Fandom und die öffentliche Meinung schon immer sehr gespalten war, war dies noch nie so schlimm wie momentan. In den Doctor Who Foren herrschen richtige Kriege, Twitter tue ich mir da nicht mal an. Das mag auch an dem Genderwechsel liegen, aber meiner Meinung nach nicht nur. Dadurch dass man nun alles geändert und auf ein neues Publikum zugeschnitten hat, verstärkt man diese Spaltung noch.

Auf Gallifreybase sagte jemand so schön, dass die neue Staffel vor allem das „Antiques Roadshow“ Publikum anspricht und einige Fans beklatschten das auch noch, so als ob das etwas gutes wäre. Es geht vielen also nicht mehr um die Qualität, sondern darum, dass Doctor Who möglichst erfolgreich breit aufgestellt ist.

Das sind vermutlich auch die, die immer schrieben Moffats Stories seien „zu kompliziert“. Nun haben wir dafür das simpleste Konzept, welches nur möglich ist, welches die Fraktion „einfach gestrickt“ und die Fraktion „Doctor Who muss *meine* sozialen Anliegen thematisieren“ befriedigt, aber nicht die Fraktion, die einfach nur gut geschriebene Stories und Charaktere wollen.

Dementsprechend heizt das die ganzen eh schon angespannten Debatten nur ein und die BBC macht ihr bestes um das mit ihrem Marketing zu unterstützen.
